Part 2: The Poisoned Juice and the Wound of Pride: The Betrayal of the Millionaire Husband and the Loyalty of the Maid Who Saved a Life

A deathly silence fell over the terrace of the luxurious Madrid penthouse. Marta stared at her phone screen as a cold sweat trickled down her body. The man to whom she had entrusted her life and fortune was prepared to kill her for an inheritance. Her gaze slowly shifted from the screen to the red juice spilled on the floor, which was already staining the marble a strange color, emitting a faint chemical odor. The high status and pride she had exuded just moments before vanished in a matter of seconds.

Sobbing and trembling, Marta fell to her knees right beside Lucía, who was still picking up the shards of glass with her scratched and bloodied hands. She took the young woman’s hands, removed the sharp fragments, and whispered through her tears, “Forgive me… Lucía, please forgive me.” The woman in the haute couture dress and million-dollar jewels now looked more wretched than her housekeeper. Lucía, pressing her still burning, reddened cheek, looked at her employer with a calm and compassionate expression; she had already achieved her goal: Marta was alive and knew the truth.

At that moment, the glass doors of the terrace slowly opened, and Marta’s husband stepped out, a false, calm smile plastered on his face. “Honey, what happened here?” he asked, but his voice trailed off when he saw the spilled juice on the floor and the phone in Marta’s hand, still playing the video of her crime. The smile on his face transformed into utter terror. Marta stood up, and the coldness of blind fury replaced the fear in her eyes. She tapped her phone screen and sent the video directly to the police and her lawyers.

Minutes later, police sirens wailed below the building. The husband tried to explain himself, but it was too late; they led him out of the penthouse in handcuffs, past the very terrace where he had plotted his wife’s murder. Marta stood beside Lucía, whom she was already embracing like a sister. That day, under the Madrid sky, Marta lost her family, but she learned an eternal lesson: true traitors often share your bed, while genuine saviors are those you frequently don’t even notice.
